Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said the project has been executed for $4 million contrary to the GHC4.6bn committed by the previous Mahama administration.
But the Minority insist that government didn’t do due diligence in re-awarding the contract which is not functioning as planned.
The Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson in an interview with Starr News said the country has been shortchanged.
“The system is not working, so you know what they’ve done they’ve actually asked the likes of Vodafone to give them a platform to vote on it, and Vodafone is charging extra 0.35% on all mobile money transactions at a fee so that is a cost to Ghanaians. There’s no fraudulent activity in the previous arrangement entered into by the Bank of Ghana with Sibton and that’s the main reason why the former Governor and his deputy came out to explain to the people of this country that we should forget it.
“The matter at hand is that the so called $4 million similar to the GPS that wasn’t working, this is also not working. The tax payer has been shortchanged.”
