President Akufo-Addo suspends NSA Board Chair

President Akufo Addo has suspended the Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, (NSA) Kwadwo Baah Agyemang in connection with the deportation of some 60 Ghanaians during the just ended Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The decision was taken following preliminary investigations conducted into the embarrassing incident involving some Ghanaians who faked as journalists and attempted to enter Australia by false pretences.

A statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said “the decision was communicated to the Board Chair by the Vice-President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday, April 17, following the absence from the jurisdiction of the president, who is attending the 25th Commonwealth heads of Government Meeting in London, United Kingdom.”

A previous statement, from the presidency, announced the suspension of the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide and the acting Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Robert Sarfo Mensah following preliminary investigations conducted into the issue.
